HEALTH SENSITIZATION AT KABAWA COMMUNITY, LOKOJA, KOGI STATE: A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE PROJECT INITIATED BY MISS OYEBIMPE OLOFIN TAGGED “LIFE IS SWEET, LIVE HEALTHY”

Miss
Oyebimpe Olofin, a Yoruba language linguist, is a young lady passionate about
humanitarian services and understanding that there are those who have some
basic need but are incapable of achieving these she set out to use her national
youth service year to impact the lives of the indigenes of Kogi state by paying
school fees for some secondary school kids and sensitizing other areas of Kogi
on the need for some basic health knowledge.
On
28 September, 2017, miss Oyebimpe, Olofin the project initiator held a health
sensitization at Kabawa community, Lokoja, Kogi state which included free
malaria testing, blood glucose level testing and urinalysis and the individuals
of the community where educated on the need to know part of this three
different tests.
She
pulled this through by the help of some of her corps member friends:
ebelechukwu peace okonkwo, okwara prince chijioke, victoria Ukpaka, udo
veronica, ebun ade-taiwo, ogoji morenikeji then also contributors which includes; tobi,
(ceo of M.A.A.D studios), mr ohine anomi, mr Sunday Samuel (a graphic designer)
The Special
adviser to the governor of Kogi state on health, Dr Attah Ahmed and the special
adviser to the governor on education of Kogi state were present for the
sensitization. A laboratory scientist, Sunday Samuel and a medical doctor Dr E
U Odia who was one of the speakers of the programme, were on board to assist
with the testing and consultation of the people especially those that turned up
positive for malaria testing, also for those that had other issues.
The
programme was a complete success considering the fact that the community heads
and people
